End-of-term exams will be held in public primary schools.

The management of the Ghana Education Service (GES) through Regional Directors of Education has directed heads of various public basic schools in the country to conduct end of term examinations in literacy and numeracy for students.

A statement signed by Anthony Boateng, the Deputy Director-General of GES and copied to EducationWeb said the assessment for public lower primary and kindergarten students should be based on numeracy and literacy.

It also indicated that English Language and Mathematics should be administered for government basic school upper primary students across the country as their end of term examination for this academic year.

For public Junior High School (JHS) students, the Ghana Education Service (GES) said their examination should be based on core subjects only, thus Mathematics, English Language, Integrated Science, Social Studies and ICT.

Ahead of the forthcoming conduct of the end of term examination, prospective teachers in the various government basic schools have been encouraged to administer class tests and exercise on the rest of the other subjects.

“The assessment should be managed from District Education Offices and supervised by the District Examination Committee,” the Education Service press statement dated March 10, 2022, to Regional Directors stated.

To ensure the smooth and successful conduct of the end of term public basic schools examination, all Regional Directors of Education have been entreated to ensure strict compliance with the Ghana Education Service directive.
