The Principal Of Accra College of Education, Dr. Samuel Awinkene Atintono was Elected as The President of the National Conference of Principals of Colleges of Education (PRINCOF).
Dr. Samuel Awinkene ATINTONO was appointed as the eighth Principal of Accra College of Education on November 1, 2018. (AcCE).
He is a professional teacher and educationist with almost two decades of experience in teacher education, particularly in academia, prior to taking on his position as the principal of Accra College of Education.
His study and teaching are centered on Ghanaian languages, linguistics, literacy, and culture.
For four years (August 2013-July 2017), he was the previous Head of Department of Gur-Gonja Languages Education at the University of Education, Winneba, and he also served as the Dean of the Faculty of Ghanaian Languages at the same institution.

At the international level, he is a distinguished scholar who has received two prestigious scholarship awards: the Commonwealth Academic Scholarship award for his PhD at The University of Manchester, UK, from September 2008 to January 2013, and the Fulbright Visiting Research Scholar award from November 2017 to August 2018 at the University of Florida, Gainesville, USA.
Language use in education, language policy, literacy and development, linguistic rights of minority or understudied languages in Ghana and Africa, orthography development, lexicography, and Mabia (Gur) languages spoken in Ghana, particularly Farefari (Boone, Guren, Nabt, Nankani, and Taln), descriptive, documentary, and theoretical (cognitive) linguistics are among his research interests.
He has published multiple articles, book chapters, and books in both local and international magazines or publishers on various elements of Guren linguistics and other genetically related Gur (Mabia) languages.
He also acts as a reviewer for various publications covering language or linguistic concerns in both local and international periodicals.
Dr. Atintono has served as a consultant for several education and literacy programs done in Ghana by Development Partners such as DFID, USAID, the World Bank, and World Education, Ghana.
He has the ability to steer PRINCOF based on his expertise as a Principal Consultant for many local and international initiatives.
