IMPORTANT NOTICE ON UTAG STRIKE

If there's anything that is of absolute likeness to last year, it is that of a clear impasse between the University Teachers Association of Ghana (UTAG) and the Government. It appears that we are at that moment again and we as an SRC, through this letter, wish to communicate our discontent with the situation and disappointment in the events that have ensued.

It is important to note that the academic year has not ended, graduation hangs in the balance and supplementary examinations have not been a priority. Not only has this academic year suffered great disruption but if this continues, the 2022/2023 academic year will be thrown into disarms. We are thus involved in various stakeholder consultations and dialogues and are m support of the University Students Association of Gla (USAG) in their engagements with the government.

We are working in the best interests of students and will not be short-changed when the dust settles, which we hope to be soon. When it does, ample time will be given for students to prepare for supplementary examinations and subsequently, a communique outlining the academic activities for the year will be released.

We share in the plight of incoming graduands and are aware of the concerns and misgivings students have raised with regards to the postponement of graduation. Students should remain assured of the fact that graduation is a priority in the conversation. We have forwarded these valid concerns to the relevant offices and will be tirelessly advocating in that regard.

In the battle of interests, we as students will always look out for what is in our best interests.

Yours in Students' Service.
