In an unprecedented move, student-teachers from Accra College of Education have stepped in to provide guidance and mentorship to newly admitted level 100 teacher-trainees, as the ongoing strike by the College of Education Teachers' Association of Ghana (CETAG) continues.
On Wednesday, July 25th, 2023, trainee teacher, Abassah Seth Sarpong, also known as "Seth Vals", is currently in Level 300 and pursuing a degree in B.Ed JHS Education in Geography and Social Studies initiated an inclusive-based enquiry session for the level 100 student-teachers. The session, which was held on campus, was met with great enthusiasm and encouragement from the attendees.

According to sources, the strike by CETAG, which began on January 4th, has left many newly admitted students feeling lost and unsure about their academic journey. However, the proactive move by the level 300 student-teachers to engage and mentor their peers is being hailed as a positive step in ensuring that the education of these students is not disrupted.
Seth Vals, who led the enquiry session, stated, "As future educators, it is our duty to ensure that the next generation of teachers is well-prepared and equipped with the necessary skills and knowledge to succeed in the classroom. Despite the challenges posed by the strike, we believe it is important to come together as a community and support one another in our academic endeavours."
The strike by CETAG is still ongoing and the situation is being closely monitored by the relevant authorities.
The story has been widely covered in the media and the student-teachers involved were seen as a shining example of how education should be, putting the students' interest first even in the face of a strike.
