Accra College Demonstration Basic School Celebrates World International Day for Women in Science with Exciting Science Quiz Competition

 

On the occasion of the World International Day for Women in Science, Friday 11th February 2023, Accra College of Education Demonstration Basic School celebrated the day with a science quiz competition. The competition was held among four houses, with House 1 emerging as the winner.

The special guest for the event was Madam Limatu Idrisu, a science teacher at the University of Ghana Basic School in Legon. The quiz was conducted by Samuel Tetteh, Samuel Ampong, and other teachers, and was participated by students from all four houses.

The competition was intense, with students showing off their knowledge and skills in science. Ednam Akorli emerged as the first prize winner, followed by Kelvin Baiden who took the second prize. Benedict Abban was rewarded thrice for his exceptional performance. Elsie Sefa, Asida Caleb Pamfo, Bezelel Attoh, Olivia Attiogbe, Alberta Okyere, Mc Daniel Bamfo, David Delali Avemegah, Emmanuella Semefa, Eldad Nyamasekpor, and Yayra Naa Latiokor Attoh also participated in answering questions by the Guest speaker Mrs Limatu Idrisu and were rewarded for their efforts.

The event was a great success and demonstrated the school's commitment to promoting women in science. It also encouraged students to take an interest in science and pursue careers in the field. The winners of the competition were celebrated and awarded prizes, while all participants received recognition for their hard work and dedication.

QUIZ OUTCOME

The World International Day for Women in Science is an important occasion that highlights the achievements of women in the field of science and technology. It is also an opportunity to celebrate the contributions of women scientists to society and to encourage girls and young women to pursue careers in science.
