In a remarkable initiative, The Seal Initiative (TSI), led by the dedicated Miss Leticia Enyonam Satekla, has taken a significant step towards normalizing discussions on mental health and awareness.

On October 20, 2023, TSI launched their impactful projects at Methodist Junior High School in Somanya, Eastern Region, Ghana. The event revolved around addressing drug abuse and initiating discussions on mental health among teenagers, and it was met with great success.

The event was made possible through a partnership with St. Martin De Porres Hospital's Mental Health Unit, emphasizing the collaborative effort in tackling critical issues within the community. Miss Leticia Enyonam Satekla, the host of the event, played a pivotal role in creating an open and supportive atmosphere for the students.

The highlight of the day was the insightful speech delivered by Patrick Tei Nyartey, a senior psychiatric nurse at St. Martin De Porres Hospital's Mental Health Unit. His expertise and compassion resonated with the students, inspiring one young boy to make a life-changing announcement. During the event, a brave student stepped forward, revealing his struggle with drug addiction and his desire to seek help.

As of now, the student is under the care of St. Martin De Porres Hospital's Mental Health Unit, receiving the necessary support and counselling to aid in his recovery journey. The boy's father has also reached out, demonstrating the power of such initiatives in fostering understanding and support within families.

This success is just the beginning for The Seal Initiative. TSI has exciting plans for the future, with their next major project set for December 20, 2023. The upcoming event will focus on promoting menstrual hygiene among female students in Somanya, further underlining TSI's commitment to addressing critical issues within the community.

It’s an accessible sanitary hub intended to be consistent and available for teenagers to access on monthly bases for a lasting period of time.

The Seal Initiative's dedication to creating a positive impact on the lives of the youth is inspiring.

We call on our readers to stay engaged and follow the incredible work of TSI as they continue to make a difference in the lives of those in need.

Be part of the change, and stay tuned for the next event on December 20, 2023 - an event that promises to further empower and uplift the community.

Together, we can make a difference!
