CETAG Announces Compliance with National Labour Commission Directive to Call Off Strike and Begin Negotiations

In a recent development, the National Council of the Colleges of Education Teachers Association Ghana (CETAG) has announced its compliance with the National Labour Commission (NLC) directive to call off the ongoing strike action. The Association has agreed to pave the way for negotiations to bring finality to all issues in dispute within the next two weeks and report back to the Commission on Wednesday, 8th February 2023.

The decision was taken by the National Council of CETAG following a hearing of the matter brought to the Commission by the Fair Wages and Salaries Commission (FWSC) on January 25th, 2023. The NLC had identified several issues in dispute that needed to be addressed before the strike could be called off.

CETAG leadership has urged all members to comply with the Commission's Directive with immediate effect, while the parties meet to bring finality to bear on all the issues in dispute. The Association has stated that it is committed to finding a resolution that is fair and beneficial to all parties involved and is willing to work towards a peaceful resolution of the matter.

The strike by CETAG has had a significant impact on the education sector in Ghana, with many newly admitted students feeling lost and unsure about their academic journey. The compliance by CETAG with the NLC's directive is being seen as a positive step towards resolving the matter and ensuring that the education of these students is not disrupted.

The situation is being closely monitored by the relevant authorities and CETAG has assured that it will continue to keep the public informed about any developments in the matter. The Association has called on all members to remain calm and cooperate with the relevant authorities as the parties work towards finding a resolution to the strike.
