Graduate Teachers Urged to Stay Calm as Recruitment Nears Green Light
There is renewed hope for the thousands of 2023 graduates from Ghana’s public Colleges of Education, as the Ghana Education Service (GES) is set to begin its long-awaited recruitment process. This follows a crucial engagement between the Teacher Trainees’ Association of Ghana (TTAG) and the Director-General of GES, Professor Frank Kofi Davis, held on June 2, 2025.
The meeting—described by TTAG as timely and productive—brought much-needed clarity to the status of the recruitment process. Here’s what you need to know.
✅ Recruitment Budget Approved
According to TTAG, the GES has already prepared a comprehensive recruitment budget that covers all 2023 graduate teachers from public Colleges of Education. Even better, the budget has been defended and successfully approved by both the Ministry of Finance and the Parliamentary Select Committee on Education.
🕒 Awaiting Final Clearance
The only step remaining is financial clearance from the Ministry of Finance. Once this is secured, the GES will proceed with the actual recruitment and posting of newly trained teachers.
During the meeting, Prof. Frank Kofi Davis gave a firm assurance that the 2023 recruitment will happen this year, stating that his office is committed to a smooth, transparent, and prompt process. This upcoming exercise will also mark his first official recruitment cycle as Director-General—a factor he said adds personal urgency to its success.
📣 TTAG Speaks Out
TTAG President, H.E. Razak Soale, led the delegation that met with GES officials, including the Head of Legal Affairs, Public Relations Officer, and Internal Auditor. The Association expressed appreciation for the Director-General's openness and proactive leadership.
“We are pleased with the steps taken so far, but we strongly urge all relevant stakeholders to expedite the financial clearance,” said TTAG General Secretary, Mr. Lala Victor. “Our graduates have waited long enough. The time for action is now.”
🧑🏫 What Should Graduates Do Now?
While many graduates may feel frustrated by the delay, TTAG is urging calm and patience. The Association has promised to keep graduates updated and continue lobbying until the clearance is granted.
In the meantime, here’s what 2023 graduates can do:
✅ Ensure your NSS and College records are in order
✅ Stay updated via TTAG’s official social media handles and website
✅ Avoid unofficial rumors or unverified application links
✅ Remain available and prepared for prompt action once recruitment is opened
📌 Final Word
After months of uncertainty, the message is clear: Recruitment is coming soon. With the budget approved and the Director-General committed, the final step lies with the Ministry of Finance. TTAG’s leadership continues to push for urgency—and thousands of graduate teachers across the country are ready.
