College Desk Ghana has successfully organised a sensitisation session for members of the Distance Education Students Association (DESA) of the University of Education, Winneba (UEW), Accra College of Education Centre. The session focused on guiding students in navigating and accessing B.Ed academic materials, teaching resources, and structured learning content through the College Desk Ghana website.
The engagement was led by the Founder, Prosper Wise Amegbe, who emphasised the importance of structured digital academic support for distance education students.
Addressing the Unique Needs of Distance Learners
Distance education students often face challenges such as limited access to organised academic materials, difficulty finding Ghana-aligned teaching resources, and balancing work with academic responsibilities. The sensitisation was designed to provide practical solutions to these challenges.
During the session, participants were taken through a live, step-by-step demonstration of the College Desk Ghana platform. The walkthrough covered:
- How to navigate the homepage and academic categories
- How to use the search feature effectively
- Accessing B.Ed academic materials
- Locating teaching and learning resources
- Finding education-related updates and opportunities
The practical demonstration allowed students to see firsthand how the platform can simplify research, assignment preparation, and exam readiness.
Supporting Academic Excellence in B.Ed Programmes
The Founder highlighted that College Desk Ghana is not just an information site, but a structured academic companion designed to support students throughout their B.Ed journey.
Students were encouraged to:
- Go beyond lecture notes
- Engage in continuous research
- Explore additional teaching resources
- Stay informed about developments within the education sector
The platform was positioned as a reliable support tool that aligns with Ghana’s educational context and the needs of teacher trainees and distance learners.
Promoting Digital Literacy and Professional Growth
Beyond academic materials, the session also emphasised the importance of digital literacy for future educators. As teachers in training, students were reminded that embracing educational technology is essential in modern teaching and learning environments.
The sensitisation reinforced the idea that effective teachers are lifelong learners who actively seek knowledge beyond the classroom.
A Step Towards Broader Academic Support
Through such sensitisation programmes, College Desk Ghana continues to bridge the gap between students and organised, relevant academic content — empowering future educators to excel both academically and professionally.
