The Ghana Education Service (GES) after it released the 2021 school placement and subsequently opened the computerized school portal has asked students to submit some documents for admission into their placed school.
A GES official Sunday told EducationWeb posted students are to submit documents including their school placement form, enrollment form, BECE results/certificate and a passport size pic to their placed school for enrollment.
Asked if his outfit is planning to communicate a new reporting date for the first-year SHS students, he said no such decision has been taken by the management adding that “as indicated on the placement form reopening is April 4.”
Commenting on claims the school reopening date has been postponed to April 18, 2022, the Ghana Education Service (GES) staff entreated members of the general public particularly parents and students to disregard such information.
“Until further notice, the school going date is April 4, 2022, for the first-year Senior High School students all those who qualified and have been placed from April 4 are to report to school to start the admission process,” he said on Sunday.
A total of 555,353 prospective students out of the 572,167 made up of 287,730 males and 284,437 females who sat for the 2021 Basic Education Certificate Examination (BECE) qualified for postings into various public secondary schools.
As 367,811 students who partook in the national examination administered West African Examinations Council (WAEC) secure automatic school placement about 187,542 qualified candidates have been asked to do self-placement.
In a related development, the Director-General of the Ghana Education Service (GES) has said plans are underway for the 5th batch of Free Senior High School beneficiaries to print their enrolled school prospectus online at a website.
Professor Kwasi-Opoku Amankwa, the Director-General of GES in 2021 speaking on UTV’s Adekye Nsroma show monitored by Educationweb said this forms part of efforts to slow the spread of the locally transmitted Covid-19.
“Due to the covid-19, we want every Senior High School (SHS) in the country to publish its prospectus online for the students to print and buy the necessary items before even reporting to school,” the Education Service Director noted.
