The Beginning of a New Era 

The reign of the 2021/2022 SRC executives in Mount Mary College of Education has come to an end and a new set of executives have been elected. The process to select college based prefects and SRC executives started with the filling of nominations and continued on Monday 1st and Tuesday 2nd August. 2022 with vetting of candidates. As expected, some aspirants couldn’t make it past vetting. 

On Sunday,7th August, all qualified aspirants read their manifestos to the college at the college’s s auditorium after a week of intense campaigning. On Monday, 8th August 2022, the election was held with the help of a handful of laptops provided by the electoral committee of the college. The various aspirants were sensitized on how the process would work and it was later explained to the student body.

 At the end of the election, all the candidates who went unopposed had the nod to serve for the next academic year. Yangyouro Isaac Bangniweb, Baduweh Godwin Kumangatu, sanitation cordinator, Owusu Bright Osafo, entertainment coordinator, Evangela Gyekye, Sports cordinator and Amankwa Paula Adusei won as SRC general secretary. The contests were at the SRC financial secretary position which was won by Isaac Akuffo and SRC organiser which was won by Robert Mintah. There was a lot of interest in the cafeteria cordinator position which was won emphatically by Stephen Tetteh Padi.

The most keenly contested position was the SRC President position which was between Senoa Joseph popularly known as Pope and Degraft Eshun Brown. Mr. Brown won by amassing 57.1% of the votes casted. The announcement was met with the singing of chants and merry making especially from level 100 students. 

Mount Mary College of Education’s new College President shall take the mantle of leadership officially on 18th September,2022.This is a new new era of leadership because the outgoing SRC executives have served for the last three years.
