SEVERE STARVATION HITS TRAINEES AT AMECO AS PRINCIPAL DECLARE NO EXAM FEE, NO FOOD
Teacher Trainees at Evangelical Presbyterian College of Education, Amedzofe in the Ho West District of the Volta region are currently grappling with severe food starvation which is impeding academic work.
The Principal of the College, Dr. Dickson Tse before the Commencement of the second semester warned trainees to pay 100% of their outstanding debts and current semester examination fees in full or forfeit eating from the Dinning hall.
True to his word, ever since Level 300s and 400s reported to College over a month ago, over 80% of students have been prevented from eating at the Dinning Hall.
Thus, under the current economic hardship, trainees had to put in contingency measures in order to survive on campus.
Worse of all, the few trainees who paid their fees in full had the quantity of food served them reduced astronomically.
The teacher trainees monthly stipends(allowance) which goes to cushion trainees has also been in several months of arrears, thus exacerbating their plights.
Some trainees who spoke with this media house on Conditions of anonymity are worried over the current situation in the College. They wondered why government has been paying feeding grants to the College but management of the College refuses to feed them.
Our Independent checks across the remaining 45 Colleges of Education in the Country reveals a completely different scenario as they continue to be fed by their College.
Attempts to speak to some SRC Executives of the College proved futile as they fear victimization from College Management.
The distraught trainees are therefore calling on government and other state institutions to intervene.
This should be send to a media house for appropriate analysis
