Accra College of Education is abuzz with excitement as the campus prepares for the upcoming Student Representative Council (SRC) elections. Two remarkable individuals, Godwin Benebe and Mattey Michael Selom, have emerged as strong contenders for the coveted position of General Secretary. With their unique qualifications and ambitious visions, these teacher-trainees are poised to make a significant impact on the student body.
FIRST CANDIDATE
Aquasi Benebe, fondly known as Godwin on campus, has built a reputation as a born leader with a remarkable track record in both academic and church settings. His extensive experience in various leadership roles, such as the Assistant boys prefect in Jhs (Buduburam D/A JHS), Bible Studies coordinator for AGCM-Swesbus in his second year, SRC president for Swesbus, Head boy prefect (swesbus), AGCM president, NCCE president, and Music Director for Vessels of Praise all in swesbus (2019/2020) academic year.
Currently, Benebe is the President of swesbus old Student’s association (SOSA) 2020 year group, Music director for Glorious Elevators, and General Secretary for Evangel Assemblies of God youth ministry. These showcase his exceptional organizational abilities and dedication to serving the student community.
Benebe possesses a diverse set of qualities that make him a formidable candidate. His effective communication skills, IT literacy, and attention to detail ensure that important information flows smoothly throughout the campus. With his problem-solving mindset and excellent time management, he is well-prepared to address any challenges that may arise. Above all, Benebe firmly believes that leadership is a journey requiring self-evaluation, preparation, and readiness, emphasizing his commitment to personal growth and development.

SECOND CANDIDATE
Mattey Michael Selom, a diligent level 300 student pursuing B. Edu J.H.S (Science and I.C.T), brings a different perspective to the race for General Secretary. Known for his unflinching commitment to service and strong problem-solving skills, Selom aims to make the SRC more vibrant in meeting the needs of the student community. His core values of credibility, reliability, and proactivity have inspired him to vie for the position, as he believes in the transformative power of effective leadership.
If elected as the next SRC General Secretary, Selom has outlined three primary aims and objectives.
👉Firstly, he aims to enhance the vibrancy of the SRC by carrying out his duties effectively, ensuring that the council becomes an active force in driving positive change on campus.
👉Secondly, Selom is committed to advocating for the interests of the students, making their voices heard, and addressing their concerns.
👉Lastly, he intends to prioritize transparent communication by making vital information readily accessible to the entire student populace, fostering an environment of inclusivity and awareness.
Both candidates have garnered significant support for their respective campaigns. Notably, the NDC Tertiary Educational Institutions Network, Accra College of Education chapter, has endorsed Mattey Michael Selom, highlighting his credibility, reliability, and delivery-oriented approach.
