2023 Graduates of Ada College of Education Decry Unjust Additional Fees for Certificates and Transcripts
Graduates of Ada College of Education (ADACOE) are raising serious concerns over an unexpected demand for additional fees after already paying for their graduation documents, including certificates and transcripts. The students were initially informed in a memorandum dated July 3, 2024, that they were required to pay a total of GH¢909, covering the graduation fee (GH¢600), the cost of certificates (GH¢200), and the cost of transcripts (GH¢109). These charges were approved by both ADACOE and the University of Education, Winneba (UEW), with an assurance that the documents would be provided on or before their graduation day.
However, three months after the ceremony, the graduates still have not received their certificates and transcripts, leading to mounting frustration. The delay in providing these crucial documents has resulted in the loss of important jobs and academic opportunities for many. Some graduates, who had already budgeted and paid the required fees, are now being asked to pay an additional GH¢100, purportedly for the printing and lamination of their certificates and transcripts—services they had assumed were covered in the initial fees.
One of the graduates expressed their frustration, stating, “We have already paid for these documents. The breakdown was clear in the original memorandum, and now the administration is demanding more money for something we’ve already covered. It’s frustrating because some of us have missed out on job opportunities that required these documents.”
The memorandum, signed by the Acting College Finance Officer, Mr. Simon Kpodo, specified that the graduates were to deposit the fees into the College's account and submit proof of payment via WhatsApp. Despite their compliance with the instructions, the graduates have been left waiting for their documents with little to no communication about when the certificates and transcripts will be ready.
To add to their grievances, the administration’s recent demand for additional payments has been met with outrage, as many graduates feel exploited by what they see as a disregard for their financial commitments and their futures. Some graduates have even reported that they have had to turn down job offers or postpone applications to further their studies due to the absence of their certificates and transcripts.
The affected graduates are now calling on the Ministry of Education to intervene, urging the University of Education, Winneba, and Ada College of Education to fulfil their obligations without further financial demands. “We’ve paid our dues,” one graduate said. “We are not paying any more. The Ministry must step in and make sure that we get what we deserve.”
As the situation intensifies, the graduates hope that this issue will be resolved promptly so they can move forward with their careers and educational goals. For now, however, the delay in certification remains a heavy burden, with many graduates left feeling powerless in a system they believe has failed them.

The issue is really serious oo.. for close to 3 months now, we have not received our certs and transcripts after paying all monies
ReplyDeleteThis issue has gotten to the neck of some students. Before the graduation ceremony students were ask to paid the amount said on the document which they did thinking that they will receive their documents on that said date but school authorities never show up after the ceremony 🥲🥲
ReplyDeleteWhat pains most students was that, some borrowed the said amount to pay that money thinking they will get their certificate on that date .Which all this cries, they wasted their money on transportation, food and others which can’t be mentioned now the school authorities are asking students from this same institution to pay an extra money aside the GH 909
Frankly speaking the leaders of Ada College of Education are thieves. The reason is that other colleges who are affiliated to Winneba were paying 500gh as graduation fee which includes certificates, and transcript but ADACOE too 909gh from we the graduates which is very outrageous. They’re now demanding another fee. How can you tell me this story.
ReplyDeleteIt’s so annoying and heartbreaking that after paying 909ghc as graduation fee which includes transcript and certificate , they still want us to pay extra 100ghc again.
ReplyDeleteThis treatment would be a reason why some of us won't want to have anything to do with this college ever. Not even when we have the means to support the school in the future.
ReplyDeleteHearing that we need to pay extra money, get me crying because I fend for myself and the little I try to gather, this school I attended wants to by any means, forcefully take it from me why?? Was it my mistake of attending such a college? Aside paying this extra money, the transport from our destination to the school for collection of our documents, also amount to a huge money. One thing I always say amidst my tears when I hear such financial bully is "Why won't God bless some of you (these leaders) with never ending illness and uncurable sickness.
ReplyDeleteInitially we were asked to pay more than the 909gh, we(school leavers) spoke and lamented alot before it was brought down to 909gh while other colleges affiliated to the same UEW as we were are/were paying 600gh. Wicked people we have as leaders leading this honourable school.
DeleteBroad day robbery.
ReplyDeleteHow can you merge our graduation with other institutional events, shift all the focus of the ceremony to those events and when it was time for us, you do everything in haste. It's obvious that the cost of the other institutional events were pushed on us to pay under the guise of graduation fee, this is appealing and unfair
Our entire ceremony lasted about 30minutes or less can you imagine!
DeleteAnd we were even given assurance that we would be given our documents if only we pay. After payment, we were only given certificate holders to show the world that we were given our certificates which wasn't so.
Never, will I recommend that college to someone
ReplyDeleteThey are even collecting mattress fees and wellness centre fees whiles all this are included in the school fees. They are draining the students
ReplyDeleteIt is unfortunate to hear this from my fellow class or year mates. I am confused. Who communicated this information to us?, the Principal or who?... we must be very careful how we come publicly to tarnish images of good people in high offices. Calling them thieves, etc.. without finding out sources of our assertions will have future implications. I must say that I am not part of this false and foolish publication. God be our helper
ReplyDeleteIt’s your own cup of tea. How can you support this cruel behavior from the authorities. First they took 909gh for graduation fees so why do they want to take extra 100gh, all in the name of lamination and other reasons which doesn’t sound well.
